ARE WE?
After years of frustration due to never finding the perfect boardshorts,
I created my own. My friend Dennis and I discussed a design and took
it from there. We wanted a side fly as rashes on our stomachs from
marathon surf in Tahiti (we are both from there) were a constant hassle
with domes or strings flies. It had to be wearable in the street so
we could do whatever we wanted in it, skate around the neighborhood,
trip around the world in it...whatever. So, out came the 4X4:
a fully functional, innovative,
no gimmick boardshort. These days we make clothes to satisfy our basic
needs and interest, we are stoked if you like them too. Check out

WHERE ARE WE?
We are based in Auckland NZ, not a renowned surfing heaven however you would be surprised if you knew where to go, also our position in the mighthy Pacific ocean is right smack in the middle of some of the best waves in the world. Our riders come from Australia, NZ, Rarotonga & Tahiti. We get them to test the gear rigorously and use their feedback into our new line (sometimes we go to the sunny places too). We have direct involvement in pretty much everything: the design , the sewing etc...we save money that way and end up spending more on developing the range.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Philo what? all we know is that we make durable and functional clothing
(and that is all we do)...sorry, no pencil cases with surf imagery
here. We don't release our products unless they meet our 4 criterias: functionality, strength, innovation and style.
